Samuel J Palmisano, Chief Executive Officer of IBM, spoke to an audience of business leaders at Shangri-La Hotel on 9 May 2007 as part of IDA's Distinguished Infocomm Speaker Series. His talk - 'Leadership, Trust and the Globally Integrated Enterprise' resonated positively with the audience as he described the island-state as 'a role model of government and private sector collaboration'.
“Singapore has managed to differentiate itself in the increasingly globalised economy and is well-placed to lead in it,” according to Mr Palmisano, also the Chairman and President of technology behemoth IBM.
Responding to a question on how small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are affected in a globally integrated economy, Mr Palmisano felt that there is now a 'great opportunity' for SMBs to connect to this global integrated economy, with added opportunities available via the virtual world. |
