Unilever One Supply Chain Mega Virtual Event 2009

In an event that spanned over 16 hours in Singapore, the One Supply Chain Mega Virtual Event brought together more than 1400 people from Unilever Supply Chain, Finance and Human Resource Business Partners from over 25 locations, 50 nationalities and 12 time zones.

Two separate production teams were activated to run parallel programmes for "East Channel" Hubs located across Asia Pacific and "West Channel" Hubs located across India, Russia, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa. Virtual teambuilding activities, Hub discussions and feedback sessions were conducted via the latest webconference technology to create a first-ever experience which allowed multi-way interaction and communication.

Through meticulous timing and show direction, both East and West Hubs came together for a 2-hour East Meets West segment which saw a special appearance by Mr Harish Manwani (President, Asia, Africa, Central & Eastern Europe, Unilever) 'live' from London, UK.

Through this Mega Virtual Event, Unilever reduced its carbon footprint by not contributing carbon dioxide from air travel that would have taken over 3000 trees to remove, while keeping event costs low by saving on air travel and hotel accommodation; setting a way forward for the future of regional and global events.
